Bodegas Familiares de Rioja internationalisation course


The consultant Ana Isabel Pelarda (apertumwines.com) gave a training course in internationalisation for the associates of Bodegas Familiares de Rioja (BFR). The training activity, which was attended by export managers from around twenty family-run wineries, seeks to guide small wineries in the La Rioja region in consolidating their presence in foreign markets…

The Metrópoli magazine and elmundovino.com portal highlight the role of family wineries in the new La Rioja wine scene. The tasting team at mundovino.com (Víctor de la Serna, Juancho Asenjo, Alberto Pérez Marín and Jens Riis) carried out several tastings of four shipments featuring wines which are not very accessible to the conventional consumer and at which the wineries in our association took centre stage.

This association has proposed redesigning an unparalleled strategy with the only objective of unifying those brands which devote their lives and businesses to local products, products from their region. As such, they are seeking to publicise the values that they have been raised with, and which at the same time, reflect the soul of those wineries which work to maintain the complicity of the terroir and reveal the personality contained in their wines.

The Bodegas Ramírez de la Piscina winery (San Vicente de la Sonsierra), with the best wines in the Crianza and Reserva categories, with their Ramírez de la Piscina Crianza and Ramírez de la Piscina Selección 2011 Reserva, has emerged as the most outstanding winery at the prestigious and competitive event (there are only 24 commendations for the three best wines in each of the eight categories).
